Instructions for Adding New Location Codes to Voyager

The addition of new location codes in Voyager is done through the SysAdmin module. You must have administrative rights in order to perform these actions.

1. Log on to SysAdmin

2. Select System > Location

     Select "New" to add new location code. Enter the location description and the OPAC
     display description. You will not be able to modify the policy fields in the lower
     portion of the screen at this time. <SAVE>

3. Select Security > Master Profiles

     Select only those profiles (usually FDU-related only) that pertain to this new location
     code. This will include "System Administrator" and "FDU Backup Administrator."
     Select Locations.
     Move the new location code from the "Available Locations" column to the "Selected Locations"
     column. <SAVE>

4. Select Security > Acquisitions/Serials Profiles

     Select only those profiles (usually FDU-related only) that pertain to this new location
     code. This will include "COOLCAT Administrator" and all FDU aquisitions profiles. 
     Select Locations.
     Move the new location code from the "Available Locations" column to the "Selected Locations"
     column. <SAVE>

5. Repeat step 4 for Cataloging and Circulation Profiles.

6. Select Circulation > Policy Definitions

     Select the policy definition to which the new location applies (i.e., either Metro Campus
     or Madison Campus). If the location is non-campus related (e.g., e-books), then make the
     necessary changes to either definition.
     Select > Locations.
     Move the new location code from the "Available Locations" column to the "Selected Locations"
     column. <SAVE>

7. Select Cataloging > Policy Definitions

     Select FDU Cataloging.
     Select > Locations.
     Move the new location code from the "Available Locations" column to the "Selected Locations"
     column.
     Set the Classification Scheme Default (usually to LC).
     Set the Initial Default Item Type (usually to FDU Circulating) <SAVE>

8. Select Acuqisitions > Policy Definitions

     Select FDU Acquisitions.
     Select > Locations.
     Move the new location code from the "Available Locations" column to the "Selected Locations"
     column.
     Set Order Default Item Type (usually to FDU Circulating).
     Set Receive Default Item Type (usually to FDU Circulating)
     Set Default Print Location to the appropriate circ desk location. <SAVE>

9. Return to System > Locations

     Edit the new location code you have just added.
     Verify that the three policy fields in the lower portion of the screen have been properly
     populated. <SAVE>

You are now ready to use your new location code.
